Party Structure From Local To National

It's easy to feel like you can't make an impact but it's surprisingly easy to get involved.  Here is the party structure from local to national if you're a democrat in Indiana.

Precinct Level

Precincts are the foundational units of the Democratic Party, in Putnam County these are typically at the Township level, but in Greencastle and Cloverdale there are more precents due to the population. Precinct Chairs are Elected in Primaries (yes the real elections).

National Level

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is the principal governing organization of the Democratic Party at the national level. It is responsible for promoting Democratic campaign activities, overseeing the process of writing and promoting the party platform every four years, and providing national leadership surrounding campaign, fundraising, political activity, and election strategy.

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) comprises 448 members nationwide, including representatives from each state, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories, and Democrats Abroad. Each state's representation is determined by the DNC's Charter and Bylaws, which consider factors such as population and Democratic Party support.

In Indiana, the DNC members typically include the Chair and Vice Chair of the Indiana Democratic Party, along with additional members elected to represent the state. These individuals participate in DNC meetings and are responsible for voting in DNC officer elections, including the election of the DNC Chair.
