Precinct Chair Overview

Why This Role Matters
Precinct Chairs are the backbone of our grassroots efforts, serving as the vital connection between the Democratic Party and local communities.  By stepping into this role, you are driving change in your neighborhood and shaping the future of Putnam County.

Be visible – Sport your Putnam County Democrats shirts, buttons, and stickers, and plant candidate yard signs when election season arrives.

Be heard – Let neighbors know you’re volunteering with the Putnam County Democratic Party (PCDP) so fellow Democrats discover our community.

Be active – Show up (and bring friends!) to monthly meetings, canvasses, and social gatherings. Follow our Facebook page & group for real-time updates.

Be connected – Check the PCDP Slack workspace (or sign up if you haven’t) and read our e-newsletter so you never miss key information.

Be curious – Scout new venues or event ideas we could use for meetings, trainings, or laid-back socials, then pass your leads along.

Be alert – When you meet someone who could be an outstanding candidate—or a precinct committee person (PCP)—introduce them to party leadership.

Be helpful – When a volunteer call goes out, be the first to raise your hand (phone-banking, postcard writing, setup/tear-down—every task matters).

Be generous – Set up a recurring monthly donation to help us hit our field, outreach, and voter-engagement goals year-round.

Be a voter – Cast a ballot in every single election, and remember: voting in the Republican primary removes your voice from selecting our Democratic nominees.

Together we’ll grow Democratic power in Putnam County—one conversation, one volunteer shift, and one vote at a time.
