Who Can Run?


To run for County Recorder in Indiana, you must:

Be a U.S. citizen and a registered voter

Reside in the county you wish to serve

Be eligible to hold public office under Indiana law

The Recorder is elected to a four-year term, and may not serve more than eight years in any 12-year period.

Time Commitment & Compensation

This is a full-time administrative position, responsible for leading an office that handles sensitive and high-volume legal documentation. In 2024 the salary was 51,686.00 and includes benefits.
